My neighbors who were moving asked if i wanted their Ts. I said yes and now have 2 G. Pulcripes to figure out how to care for. This channel and the Tarantula Collective are my go to sources. The learning curve is steep! The Ts are currently housed in 8x8x12" vertical enclosures with very little substrate - totally wrong for this species as it turns out. Ive ordered 2 sets of your cover clips (should recieve within the week, thank you) and will be purchasing the large clear mainstays boot boxes to retrofit with ventilation holes as per your other video. I have an order of substrate coming from Biodude and plan to give my new Ts proper naturalistic enclosures whee they'll have the horizontal room needed for enrichment. Now watching this rehousing video so i can be ready when the time comes. Thank you so much for all your experience and education. Im learning the necessary skillset to be a better steward because of you.

This is an old video, but barbadensis seems correct. You can also check out Phrynus goesii, I don’t think it’s that but it is another species that seems to have banding.

What about a clear or translucent red colored tarantula hide? The science on tarantula vision suggests that tarantulas are largely insensitive to red light. Unlike humans with trichromatic vision (seeing red, green, and blue), tarantulas likely have dichromatic vision or poorer. This means they have fewer types of photoreceptor cells in their eyes, limiting their ability to perceive a wide range of colors. The photoreceptor cells in tarantula eyes are most sensitive to wavelengths in the blue-green and ultraviolet range. Red light has a longer wavelength that falls outside their primary range of vision. So red light is most likely invisible to tarantulas. Because of this, a translucent red hide or shelter in their enclosure would likely appear quite dark to them. A translucent red material would allow some light to pass through, but the red color filter would block out most of the wavelengths that tarantulas can see effectively. From the tarantula's perspective, the filtered light passing through the red hide would likely appear very dim or dark. This is because the majority of the light it can see is being blocked by the red material. Since the red hide appears dark to the tarantula, it can provide a sense of security and privacy, but at the same time, it would allow you to observe your tarantula's behavior through the red hide without disturbing it too much.

Lucky you! I have a green bottle and I hate rehousing it more than any of the others I have. It knows when it has open air above it and jail breaks every single time. It’s super chill until the top comes off the enclosure. I have gotten to where I rehouse in the carport on the concrete where I can not have clutter where my guy could run and hide. Also a catch cup is a must not just a good idea. Strangely though he is the most timid eater of any T I’ve ever owned. Great channel and condolences on your father!

My GBB tarantula after I fed her she went hiding the same night in his barrell and blocked off the front door. Im worried now cause I haven't seen her come out for 3 weeks now. Im not sure what to do?

Great vid. I actually got into isopods several months ago while putting together a bioactive leopard gecko enclosure. P pruinosis- Ordered them from Rus@Aquarimax (whom I adore). Have since gotten a few more species A gestroi, A klugii (Montenegro) and A maculatum. They are all starting to expand. Through Rus I found Rich at TC and you and now my T collection is growing :) BDFB are on my list. Will set up a 20 gall breeder for a community this year I expect :)

Isopods ISOpods ISOPODS!!! I love ISOPODS....Ive always been a bug guy (I became an artist after teachning my self how to draw because I wanted to draw beetles) But in the last 4 years it was isopods that rekindled my passion for bugs and now ive got a large collection of spiders, scorpions, isopods (obviously) some whip spiders, millipedes, mantids, assasin bugs, and the crown jewel of my collection...my VINEGAROON....I think you should have mentioned pystalla Horrida instead of death feigners but I guess you need a kid friendly option somwhere

thats a terrestial setup, this t needs a fossorial setup. she needs way more substrate... this t will be stressed in this kind of setup and no one wants a stressed c. lividus

What i usually do when they make me nervous for a bolt. Either i place the enclosure in a big tube or i ll clean my living room so it will give me plenty of time to catch them when they take off. Its not like theyre gonna run half a mile. Just a few feet

Someone sold me her jumping spiders last egg sac at the invert show i went to. It was the last sac of 4 and only about 10 babies emerged but omg they are adorable! Seeing them make catches whilst so tiny never ceases to amuse and surprise me lol

Thank you for this!!!! I just picked up the large boot box for my ~ 5” P. machala ! The dimensions are 22.5” long, 14.5” wide and 6” tall. Would this be an adequate size enclosure for her?

None of the scientific names are easy to pronounce nor remember; for me. I go by the common name. Much easier to pronounce and easier to specify.

Do you have clips for glass aquariums?

Would filling the specimen with silica gel help dry out any remaining guts?

Love this. And I adore Rus at Aquarimax. I got my P priuinosis. And springtail clean up crew for my leopard gecko. He’s a wealth of info and due to the algorithms I was lead to Richard at TC. Went down the tarantula rabbit hole hard (now have 3, one month later- B smithi, A avicularia and a C cyaneopubescens). Through that initial T video dive I’ve since found you, Tom, David and so many other amazing teachers. To think it all started with a few isopods from Rus :). BDFB is on my list and I found an old 20gallon long that I plan on converting into a desert beetle hole this summer. 🤘

I love mine I named her Selene fr movie underworld. It fits her she’s gorgeous feisty and stills the show when feeding. They are very underrated.
